JOB SUMMARY

This role will have the primary purpose of leading all accounting activities for the inventory cycle, including analysis, standard costing, valuation, record keeping and internal controls activities. The role will be fundamental on developing financial analysis on inventory, cost of goods sold and other operating expenses.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of month end close activities for inventory at multiple locations, including oversight of inventory reserves and cost of goods sold;
- Manages and grows the team through training and development as the company grows through organic growth and acquisitions
- Prepares and reviews journal entries, both standard and non-recurring, and assists with the verification of transactions to ensure appropriateness, accuracy, and validity
- Leads the coordination, execution, and reconciliation of the annual physical inventory and cycle counts;
- Works closely with operations and other cross-functional teams to ensure that all inventory transactions flow through SAP successfully, and that the accounting is consistent with financial reporting
- Maintains, analyzes and updates standard cost for both domestic and offshore inventory items at and prepare necessary G/L adjustments
- Leads future process improvement initiatives that address timeliness of month-end close and efficiency of account reconciliations and related financial reporting enhancements
- Partners with the Segment Controller on the development for policies and procedures related to inventory accounting
- Performs period-end financial close responsibilities, including financial statement oversight of one of the Company’s foreign manufacturing subsidiaries
- Supports the segment controller in review of the financial statements, including monthly/quarterly reporting activities, review of vendor receivables and maintenance of capitalized purchasing schedules;
- Analyzes production order variances at domestic and offshore plants
- Establishes labor and overhead minute rates for our foreign manufacturing subsidiaries
- Assists in the documentation and maintenance of inventory sub-processes, including internal controls relating to classification, inventory counts, shipping and receiving.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills/Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting or Finance
- CPA is preferred
- Minimum 6 years of directly related experience, which includes at least 1 year of management experience
- Ability to work independently with the ability to resolve inconsistencies and problems and deliver results with a limited amount of supervision;
- Competent with applying comprehensive understanding of the concepts, practices and procedures relating to the field of cost accounting;
- Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting standards (GAAP);
- Knowledge of cost accounting, standard cost and manufacturing processes and systems;
- SAP experience is required
- Proficient in MS Office, including the ability to perform pivots and V-lookups in Excel.
