Technical Designer (Seminole, FL or Alpharetta, GA)

As a Technical Designer at HPI (High Performance Identity), you will be joining a dynamic team based in Alpharetta, GA or at our corporate office in Seminole, FL. This is a new, full-time opportunity for a candidate who is meticulous with details and driven by the technical aspect of the design process. The Technical Designer will join an existing team of fashion designers. The person in this role will bring with them drive and passion for developing technically sound garments. This position requires an out of the box thinker who can collaborate with the existing team, outside vendors and across all levels of the organization. This position does occasionally require travel but not as a general rule.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate pre-production and top-of-production samples returned from outside vendors to determine compliance of specs, construction.
  • Spec garments and record accurate measurements on spec sheets.
  • Illustrate pattern corrections and style comments with Photoshop or Illustrator.
  • Clearly communicate detailed comments and address all garment corrections with factory representatives.
  • Collaborate with design team and sourcing team to ensure desired product is achieved on time.
  • Conduct fit sessions by taking notes on all points to comment on, on model or dress form.
  • Attend each fitting prepared with technical packs and ensure size and fit consistency across product categories, have fit history.
  • Evaluate lab dips and bulk fabric and trim submits as needed.
  • Submit fabrics for lab testing as needed.
  • Monitor and follow up on progression of projects to production

Qualifications:

Education/Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel Manufacturing, Product Development, Apparel Design or related field
  • 2 to 5 years’ work experience in technical design, apparel design or patternmaking
  • Understanding of construction and patterns
  • In-depth knowledge of fabric, apparel, materials, construction and fit
  • EXPERIENCE WITH A PLM SYSTEM
  • Photoshop AND Illustrator experience
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience required
  • Basic Knowledge of Gerber digital or digital pattern programs
