JOB SUMMARY
The SVP is an executive that oversees the all of the information technology (IT) needs of the Uniform Divisions and the IT Security and Compliance functions of all of SGC. While the SVP needs to have a good understanding of the functions and structures within the IT arena for all of SGC, it is equally important that the SVP is able to oversee the strategic direction of the assigned division’s technology initiatives and that they be able to understand and translate the needs of the business and how technology can be used to meet those needs. In addition, the SVP needs to stay abreast of technological advances and to present the business with abilities that may provide differentiation from our division’s competitors and improved operational efficiencies.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Alignment with Business
- Works with Executive Management to clearly understand and align IT with future growth, direction, and change
- Develops and aligns IT direction, scale and roadmap based a clear understanding and agreed upon path with the business strategy
Executive Responsibilities
- Develops and aligns IT strategy, roadmap, and policy with SGC strategic operational direction.
- Provides strategic vision, guidance, and insights to the SGC Executive Team.
- Drives the digital adoption and transformation, enabling data driven decision making throughout the organization
- Acts as business strategist, change leader and technical evangelist to the uniform divisions and consultative services to the other divisions
- Provides clear and consistent leadership across the assigned operating businesses, with an eye to the unique requirements of shared resources yet independent operations
- Invests significant energy in understanding each of the assigned operating business units, their markets and how they utilize technology. Develops cost effective solutions to enhance their competitive advantage
- Develops and maintains highly collaborative working relationships with key executives, sponsors and functions
- With Executive Leadership, develops appropriate investment and annual operating budgets to support required operations while maintaining OpEx & CapEx targets
IT Department Leadership
- Designs, develops, and implements IT organization design to meet SGC operational requirements
- Develops and mentors the IT leadership team, providing verbal and written direction, goals, feedback, and guidance
- Communicates clear translation of Corporate Strategy to IT initiatives and leads development of planning, implementation, and execution
- Defines KPI & Metrics to enable the effective measurement of IT performance
- Manages key vendor relationships, negotiates critical systems, support, and platform contracts.
- Develops, publishes, and deploys IT Best Practices throughout the SGC enterprise
- Manages daily and annual budget, spend management and out of cycle purchases
Cross-functional Leadership
- Leads the development of and deploy an enterprise governance capability to provide controls for investments in technology, business enablement and emerging capabilities
- Develops and deploys and Enterprise Project Management capability
- Provides a formal project management intake and approval process (business case, ROI, CBA, budget, resource requirements)
- Manages and reports on Resource Utilization and Management
- Integrates with finance team to manage Capital Controls for project approvals and budget expenditures.
- Evaluates and recommends internal, external or hybrid solutions in support of key business functions (EDI, CRM etc.).
- Creates Cross Functional Leadership functions to effectively manage the Uniform Divisions’ technology requirements, while reducing redundant resources across the enterprise.
Governance, Compliance, Controls, Policies and Processes
- Defines, deploys, and provides Security, Compliance and Governance frameworks in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley standards to identify, manage and mitigate risk to business continuity
- Ensures the GDR, audit and compliance related functions become embedded in standard IT Operational processes
- Stays abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and the potential to impact SGC’s organization or environment
- Ensures that key IT functions are peer reviewed by appropriate executive members (legal, finance, strategy)
- Deploys enterprise controls such as CMDB, Change/Control, Asset Mgmt.
Enterprise Applications
- Creates, documents, and captures key business processes, workflows and functions utilized in current ERP solution
- Identifies industry best of breed affordable solutions to meet SGC requirements around WMS, SCM, etc.
- Recommends, Develops and supports an Architecture that creates a cost effective, manageable solution for critical business applications
- Leads the creation and maintenance of an Integration Architecture that allow for the on/off boarding of technologies, organizations, and business lines
Emerging Technology & Industry Trends
- Ensures that the IT organization stays relevant by implementing Innovation Capability that evaluates and pilots emerging technologies and trends in the industry.
- Ensures that IT’s strategic Roadmap is maintained with Legacy, Current and Future technologies clearly identified, aligned with capital investment and business growth plans.
- Ensures that opportunities to leverage emerging technologies (ML, AI, Process Mining) are evaluated and made available to the business to evaluate
Cyber & Information Security
- Develops and deploys a comprehensive Cyber and InfoSec strategy to provide a broad multi-fabric security solution capable of ensuring the resilience of SGC’s enterprise assets.
- Leverages best of breed products in a layers solution to reduce risk and enhance the security posture of the enterprise.
- Ensures a consistent training cadence and ongoing awareness with SGC users to reduce risks associated with security incidents
- Continuously trains staff to appropriately respond and manage through Information Security Incidents should they occur.
- Develops and maintains close working relationships with legal department as related to Information Security, Data Privacy and Cyber threats.
- Ensures that a proper Data Classification process is in place in the event of a security event.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED SKILL/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Preferred, Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer or software engineering, or information systems; MBA or other advanced level degree a plus or relevant experience
- 15 + years’ experience including as an IT Leader in a diversified business operating on multiple platforms with total annual revenues exceeding $400M
- Able to develop and maintain working professional relationships across a broad spectrum of personalities
- Possesses a bias for action and building leadership consensus when appropriate
- Data-driven decision maker
- Ability to develop cross-functional partnerships across multiple levels of the organization
- Strong communication skills – ability to synthesize technical information in order to clearly and concisely articulate solutions, strategies, etc. to senior leaders
