JOB SUMMARY

The IT security administrator mitigates threats to the company’s computer infrastructure and networks. He or she is responsible for installing, administering and troubleshooting the organization’s security solutions. This role creates security policies and training documents regarding security procedures for colleagues.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Installs security measures and operates software
  • Upgrades systems to enable security software
  • Installs and upgrades antivirus software
  • Tests and evaluates new technology
  • Performs penetration testing
  • Analyzes IT requirements and provides objective advice on the use of IT security requirements
  • Gathers feedback from end users to continue to improve systems
  • Designs, analyzes and implements efficient IT security systems

REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in information security
  • Experience installing security software and documenting security issues
  • Proficient with MAC and OS
  • Experience with penetration testing and techniques
  • Ability to identify and mitigate network vulnerabilities
  • Understanding of patch management
  • Knowledge of firewalls, antivirus and IDPS concepts
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
