JOB SUMMARY

A dynamic and growing organization that offers the stability of being a 100+-year old publicly traded company, Superior Group of Companies (SGC) is a collection of complementary business divisions serving one core purpose:  helping companies unlock the power in their brands.  SGC seeks an experienced, motivated attorney to join its growing organization.  This role supports the General Counsel mitigate risks and helps the business increase revenue and profitability by providing sound legal advice.

Advising all levels of the organization across all of its divisions, this position will challenge you to strike a balance between effective risk management and developing creative solutions that support the company’s broader business initiatives.  You will be expected to provide guidance in many areas of law, willingly learn new areas of the law, and elevate your legal team members through experience sharing and leadership.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as a strategic business partner, proactive counselor and business advisor by providing legal requirements and risk-balanced (business and operational) paths in support of business goals
  • Provides senior level legal advice to various internal stakeholders at corporate and each division (Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, HR, IT, Licensing, other)
  • Reviews, drafts and negotiates agreements of varying complexity
  • Handles special projects
  • Advises on employment and labor matters, which includes conducting investigations as needed
  • Advises on regulatory and compliance matters affecting the company and its subsidiaries
  • Oversees international legal affairs
  • Assists with M&A transactions
  • Oversees litigation and related matters
  • Creates and implements company policies and procedures
  • Advises on intellectual property matters
  • Advises on securities law and corporate governance matters
  • Conducts legal research as needed
  • Manages outside counsel relationships
  • Assists with legal operations implementations
  • May manage in-house attorneys, non-legal professionals, and interns as assigned by the general counsel

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • 15+ years of relevant experience as a licensed practicing attorney, preferably through a mix of in-house and large law firm experience
  • Admission and membership in good standing to the Florida bar or another U.S. state bar with the ability to be Authorized House Counsel in Florida
  • Extensive general experience in a broad variety of legal areas
